Scope and Content Note
This series of registers was created at Willard State Hospital to document paroles of patients. The earliest entries (August 1886-May 1909) are written in narrative form and supply the following information for each parole: date of parole; name of patient; name, relation, and address of person to whom the patient is paroled; and signature or initials of recorder. Some entries include time and means of departure (boat, train, etc.). Some entries state period of parole or date of parole expiration. Most entries conclude with results of parole (discharged, returned to hospital, referred to aftercare committee, or parole extended) and date.
Later registers give information in columnar form including date of parole; name (and sometimes address) of patient; aftercare (yes or blank); date parole was to expire; date extended to; date of discharge or return to hospital; patient's condition at end of parole; to whom paroled and relation to patient; and address.
