Scope and Content Note
This series contains cards created by the Motion Picture Division containing information on reviewed films rejected in toto or approved with eliminations. Each index card contains some or all of the following information: title of film; change of title; distributor company; maker; date of license; case file number; numbers of seals issued; length of footage; number of reels; foreign film (English translation or title is given); "S&D" or "SYN" & DIAL" (synchronized and dialogue); "SILENT;" "rejected in toto;" and "with eliminations." For films that were approved with eliminations, the cards note the reel number with scene(s) or language that needs to be removed. Feature films are arranged into two sets: circa 1920-1930 and circa 1930-1949; documentaries are arranged into two sets: circa 1921 and circa 1921-1930 and soundies and shorts in one set: 1943-1948.

Processing Information
This series was assembled from a previously unaccessioned collection of censor cards. All documentary and soundies/shorties cards were kept, while only feature film cards of films marked "with eliminations" or "rejected in toto" were maintained.
