This volume lists the expenditures for the broom, hollow ware and iron casting industries operated by the labor of incarcerated individuals.
The records were generated pursuant to a law of 1847 requiring keepers to keep accounts of all prison labor. Entries in the volume list the cash balance on hand at the beginning of each month, amount drawn from Prison Capital Fund, and a listing of the type of expenditures and amount allotted for each month. Pages 2-26 deal with the broom industry, pages 27-42 with the hollow ware industry and pages 100-114 with the iron castings industry.
