Scope and Content Note
The Civil Service Commission has the power, subject to the Governor's approval, to establish or amend State Civil Service rules and regulations. This series consists of bound volumes of Commission resolutions amending these rules and regulations.
Both approved resolutions, signed by the Commission's Secretary or Executive Director of the Department of Civil Service and by the Governor, and unsigned, disapproved resolutions are included in the series. Occasionally a letter or memorandum relating to a resolution is also included. Resolutions contain the texts of proposed amendments to rules and regulations, the date they were passed and, if approved, the date they were signed. Amendments relate to jurisdictional classification of positions, Civil Service policy matters (e.g. terms of eligibility lists, temporary appointments), and personnel policy (e.g. attendance rules).
