It contains information about the division's history, mission, and organizational structure; an annual report (2005); press releases (1999-2006); a listing of legislation relating to veterans (1995-2006); and veterans population statistics (1999-2000, 2002, 2004-2005). Also present are descriptions of New York State military awards, a listing of benefits counseling offices throughout the state, and information about benefits available to veterans, including financial assistance for the visually impaired, members of the National Guard and Reserve, and disabled veterans. Information about veterans' nursing homes, a section of frequently asked questions, a section for women veterans, and a listing of veterans' memorials across the state are also included.
B2194-08: This accretion consists of a copy of the New York State Division of Veterans' Affairs site produced on May 13, 2008, after the resignation of Governor Eliot L. Spitzer (2007-2008). It contains information about the division's history, mission, and organizational structure; and a description of state benefits for veterans, including financial assistance for the visually impaired, members of the National Guard and Reserve, disabled veterans, reduced costs for some state services, property tax exemptions, and employment benefits for veterans. Also present is information about financial and educational benefits for active-duty military personnel, a full listing of federal government benefits available to veterans, benefits for parents of deceased veterans, and a frequently asked questions section.
B2194-11: This accretion consists of a copy of the New York State Division of Veterans' Affairs site produced on December 20, 2010, shortly before Governor David A. Paterson (2008-2010) left office. It contains information about the division's history, mission, and organizational structure; and a description of state benefits available to veterans, including financial assistance for the visually impaired, nursing homes, disabled veterans, reduced costs for some state services, property tax exemptions, and employment benefits for veterans. Also present is information about financial and educational benefits for active-duty military personnel, a full listing of federal government benefits available to veterans, benefits for parents of deceased veterans, and a section of frequently asked questions. Statistical information (2009-2010) about veterans' benefits and veterans' satisfaction with the division's services and information about New York State military personnel who were killed in the line of duty (2008-2010) is also included.
Researchers should also note that clicking the "Facility Locations" tab will display an error box and that attempting to select and view facility locations on the Google Map will automatically redirect the Web browser to the live site.
This accretion also includes a January 3, 2011 copy of the division's Twitter page, which contains summary information about matters of interest to veterans and their families. Researchers should note that, owing to the limitations of Web archiving technology and the structure of the live page, most of the content on this page could not be captured properly. Researchers should also note that as of early 2011, the Facebook page that the division maintained could not be copied successfully.
