Summary
- This series contains film negatives and photographic prints of historic sites, buildings, bridges, statues, monuments, and a few persons of statewide or local significance. It apparently contains interfiled photographs resulting from several projects to document historic sites in New York State. The projects included a Federally sponsored historic sites survey (circa 1936-1939); preliminary work on the Historical Album of New York State (1941-1942); and a resurvey of historic sites conducted by the Division of Archives and History (circa 1947-1949).

Alphabetical by county. At the end of the series are photographs of octagonal buildings and covered bridges arranged alphabetically by county, and several miscellaneous, unarranged photographs.
Administrative History
All of these projects primarily were efforts to document historic sites in New York. They included a Federally sponsored historic sites survey (circa 1936-1939); preliminary work on the Historical Album of New York State (1941-1942) - a cooperative project between the Works Progress Administration's New York Writers' Project and the Division of Archives and History; and a resurvey of historic sites conducted by the Division (circa 1947-1949).
Scope and Content Note
This series contains film negatives and photographic prints of historic sites, buildings, bridges, statues, monuments, and a few persons of statewide or local significance. It apparently contains interfiled photographs resulting from several projects.
The negatives range in size from 3" x 4" to 4-1/2" x 6-1/2" and prints vary from 3" x 3" to 8" x 10". There are negatives and prints for some images and only negative or print for others. All images are identified by location and name, and most by date taken.
