- This series consists of the Ways and Means Committee's copy of transcripts of hearings before the Governor and the Director of the Budget on requests by 28 state departments for appropriations for the 1942-1943 fiscal year. Administrative History
Present at the hearings were the Director of the Division of the Budget and members of his staff. Often the Governor and Lieutenant Governor and other members of the Executive Chamber were also present. Representing each state department were the commissioner, deputy commissioner, and various other department staff. For departments that were responsible for institutions such as Corrections, Health, and Mental Hygiene, the directors and other staff from individual institutions were also present to explain budget requests.

This series consists of the Ways and Means Committee's copy of transcripts of hearings before the Governor and the Director of the Budget on requests by state departments for appropriations for the 1942-1943 fiscal year. The hearings cover the budget of 28 departments. The testimony provided by department staff usually includes detailed descriptions of the department's program during 1941-1942 and in previous years, and justifications for requests for increased appropriations for the 1942-1943 fiscal year. There is a large amount of documentation on the programs of the many prisons, hospitals, schools, and other institutions operated by the state.
