Senator Martin Malavé Dilan, a Democrat, was elected to the Senate in a 2006 special election. He represents the 17th Senate District, which consists of the Brooklyn neighborhoods of Bushwick, Brooklyn, Williamsburg, Greenpoint, Cypress Hills, City-Line, East New York, Bedford-Stuyvesant, and Brownsville. He has served as Senior Assistant Minority Leader (2009-2010) and Chair of the Senate Standing Committee on Transportation (2009-2010).

It contains biographical information, photographs, a map of the 17th Senate District, and press releases (2008) concerning a proposed Greenpoint power plant, the resignation of Governor Spitzer, and other matters of interest to Senator Dilan's constituents.
