Administrative History
Senator Thomas P. Morahan (1931-2010) was first elected to the Senate in a 1999 special election. A Republican, he represented the 38th Senate District, which consists of Rockland County and the Town of Tuxedo and the Town of Warwick in Orange County. He chaired the Senate Standing Committee on Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities and was instrumental in securing passage of Timothy's Law (2006), which mandates parity in health insurance coverage for mental illness, and Jonathan's Law (2007), which gives parents and legal guardians of people receiving care in government mental health facilities the right to view records documenting allegations of abuse involving their children or wards.
Scope and Content Note
This series consists of archival copies of the publicly accessible website of Senator Thomas P. Morahan. Researchers should note that in 2009, each Senator was allotted space on the main Senate website and the official sites of individual Senators were removed from the live Web.

Also included are a list of Senator Morahan's 2008-09 legislative member items, information about a state property tax rebate program, and information about a Senate Republican accountability in government spending plan.
Researchers should note that, owing to the structure of the live site and the limitations of Web archiving technology, some of the information contained within this site could not be captured properly in mid-2008. In addition, some of the navigational links do not work properly. However, identical sets of navigational links appear at the top and the bottom of each page. If the link in one set does not work correctly, click the Web browser's Back button and then click on the corresponding link in the other set.
