Scope and Content Note
B0849-85: Each register contains descriptions (1807-1865) of non-resident property on which taxes were owed, which the Comptroller's Office "rejected" (returned to the county treasurer for correction). Property descriptions were rejected because they were incomplete, inconsistent, or inaccurate, thus preventing the comptroller from preparing accurate lists of lands to be advertised for sale. For each rejected description the reason for the rejection is stated in the margin in red ink.
B0849-99: This accretion contains property descriptions rejected by the comptroller (1866-1926) because of inaccuracies, missing information, or other technical reasons. Information sometimes includes a brief description of property (e.g., house, building, vacant), location, acres, valuation, and amount of taxes owed, sometimes giving type of tax (e.g., school, road). The name of property owner is never given. The volume for the year 1912 is missing.
